This architect designed house, which was built for a wealthy family from Bordeaux as a holiday home, is set in about 6 acres of wooded gardens, meadow and forest hillside. The house was built in 1982 and has been extensively modernised and updated by the present owners turning it from just a summer "holiday" home into a house which is welcoming all year round. The property has been added to in terms of the grounds and now incorporates acres of oak forest. Unlike many French houses this property gives the feeling of being light and airy whilst also having that "cosy" feeling when the log fire is lit in the open fireplace on chilly evenings in late autumn, early spring or winter. Having generally a south facing aspect, the property enjoys day long sunshine from early morning until late evening - a veritable sun worshipper's paradise!
Adjacent to Tour de Faure, the medieval village of St Cirq Lapopie is perched some 100 metres above the river Lot. Just a bike ride or reasonable walk away from Son du Chene, and often described as the "jewel of the Lot", designated as one of the most beautiful villages in France, St Cirq is a "must" for anyone staying at Son du Chene.
Tour de Faure is just 35 kms east of the regional capital Cahors and has good access via the A20 motorway and is served by 3 airports offering budget flights from the UK.
